St. Joseph's College, founded in 1882 by the French Fathers of the Foreign Mission, was handed over in 1937 to the Jesuits, a catholic religious order, dedicated to the education of young people. This institution, now managed by the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society (BJES), has become a centre of higher learning, committed to the quest for a deep understanding of reality. It seeks to promote in its students openness to all round growth. Students are urged to deepen their understanding of various religion and spiritual traditions. It also emphasizes social responsibility among students, shaping them into positive men and women for others.
